Brunessa Drayton
Brunessa E. Drayton is a former sales professional, leader and advocate. Raised in a military family, she takes pride in a strong work ethic and brings a unique perspective deeply rooted in her Afro-Latina heritage. This combination makes her a passionate champion to work on behalf of those who have historically been underserved and underrepresented.
After several years in the private sector, Brunessa pivoted her career. She recently completed a year of service with AmeriCorps, serving as an Outreach and Enrollment Specialist for Project Health Access. In her current role as Chief Assistant to the Chairwoman, Brunessa is responsible for administrative support and constituent services.
Brunessa graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Master in Public Administration. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Spanish from Western Kentucky University. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a Fellow of the Georgia Women’s Policy Institute. She’s also served as a Trustee on the Cobb County Library Board and is an alumnus of the United Way of Greater Atlanta Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP).
In her spare time, she enjoys going anywhere that requires a passport and training for half marathons.
Brunessa on her sheroes: My shero is none other than the namesake of this organization Shirley Chisholm. I’ve always been fascinated by how she had the audacity to run for the Democratic nomination for the presidency after serving less than five years in Congress. She made history by being the first African-American woman elected to Congress but she wasn’t willing to stop there. She didn’t back down when the men didn’t support her…she persisted.
