DESTENYE DAVIS, FELLOW
Destenye Davis is a senior at Loyola University Chicago where she is pursuing a degree in Public Relations. During her time obtaining her bachelors degree, Davis has developed skills in Public Relations and Communication tactics and best practices. These include the development of effective communication plans, writing pitch letters and press releases, synthesizing key messages, and social media content creation. Inspired by the lack of diversity among both her peers and educators, that led to a lack of resources during moments of adversity, Davis strives to become the change she wants to see, and the role model she needed. Davis hopes to use her background in public relations to better serve her community while working towards a career in government office. With a long history of volunteering and working with non-profit organizations, she plans to translate that experience to better serve women of color who desire to be catalysts of change. When she is not in school or preparing to become an Officer in the United States Army, she enjoys reading, listening to murder mystery podcasts, and painting.
Destenye on her Shero: My Shero is my mother Qiana. My mom has always been supportive of any decision I make and I can always count on her to be in my corner. To this day she continues to make sacrifices so that I can focus on my own goals. She is the most hard working and dedicated woman I know. She can make a way through any storm and as taught me how to be strong. My mother’s love for her family knows no bounds. I would not trade her for the world.
