SOPHIE THIONVILLE, FELLOW
Sophie Thionville is a fourth-year History major at the University of Virginia passionate about social justice, and community service. She has volunteered with the International Rescue Committee, Volunteers with International Students, Staff, and Scholars (VISAS), College Mentors for Kids, and as a Transfer Student Peer Advisor at the University of Virginia. Through these experiences she has learned that mentoring relationships are extremely valuable. Her enthusiasm for mentorship, and the accessibility of education and opportunity led to her involvement as a Spring 2021 Fellow with the Chisholm Leadership Academy. Internships in the non-profit sector have given Sophie the leadership and marketing experience she is excited to utilize while serving the Chisholm Leadership Academy. Through her fellowship Sophie aims to contribute to the empowerment of young women in Georgia, and across the country.
Sophie on her Shero: My Shero is my mother, Sarah Thionville. She inspires me due to her perseverance and drive to produce a better life for herself and for her children. A lifelong educator and soon to be nurse, she has dedicated her life to caring for others. She approaches any challenge with determination, and she has instilled in me the value of hard work.
